Word 2016 appears this function seems to be interrupted, and need to be repaired?

Our client just started to get this message this morning "We're sorry but this feature appears to be broken and needs to be repaired. Use the Programs and Features option in the Windows Control Panel to repair Microsoft Office." I got this when I try to open up word 2016. This is happening on each files they are opening. We tried to fix it by repairing the program but there is no success with it. So, I have gone throuh a new registry solution and it works for me and my clients as well. Please see the steps below and follow the same.

Press the Windows key + R key, enter "regedit" to open the registry

Registry Hive HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Registry Path SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Word\Options
Value Name NoReReg
Value Type REG_DWORD
Value 1

close the registry editor, and reopen Word.

Fix volume license edition office 365 issue on RDS server?

Volume license edition office365 issue on RDS server?

Assume that you have installed Office 365 click-to-run on a terminal server. And, now when you are going to use the product it gives you an error that is:

This copy of Microsoft Office cannot be used on a computer running Terminal Services. To use Microsoft Office on a computer running Terminal Services, you must use a Volume License Edition of Office.

This issue occurs because Click-to-Run versions of Office programs or suites running on a server with Remote Desktop Services (RDS), must have Shared Computer Activation enabled. Remote Desktop Services are formerly known as Terminal Services. Shared Computer Activation is only available for Microsoft 365 Apps. Other releases are not supported.

To get this issue resolved we need to identify the system that the system where the application is hosted have a Shared Computer Activation enabled.

To make it possible there is a step that we need to follow:

Registry Hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Registry Path SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration
Value Name SharedComputerLicensing
Value Type String Value
Enabled Value 1
Disabled Value 0

Close the registry and restart the system. Now, your problem will be solved.

Multiple excel file opening in same instance of window

Multiple excel file opening in same instance of window issue?

All the files will open in one instance window and we have to look for each files from selecting it with switch windows from VIEW section. This is a very lenthy process and for any users it is very tough to switch over the file and work. There is a setting that we need to apply with the registry and registry must be backed up before applying any changes.

It probably happens with the lower edition of Microsoft Office as like 2010. We can upgrade Excel program to the 2013, 2016, or 2019 as per the need. However, if there is need to have it with Office 2010 then there is a way that we need to follow to get that fixed.

Computer \ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Excel.CSV \ shell \ Open \ ddeexec and rename (old) ddeexec.
Computer \ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Excel.CSV \ shell \ Open \ command and rename (old) the multi string from right pane.
• And change the default string value to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\EXCEL.EXE" /e “%1”
Computer \ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \Excel.Sheet.12 \ shell \ Open \ ddeexec and rename (old) ddeexec
Computer \ HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ Excel.Sheet.12 \ shell \ Open \ command and rename (old) the multi string from right pane
• And change the default string value to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16\EXCEL.EXE" /e “%1”

Once this change is done, need to reboot the system and then set up the default program to open the excel files.

Check spelling and grammar in Office

Check spelling and grammar in Office

Turn on the automatic grammar with spelling, and then start typing in the document. This will checks the new text you type, as well as any existing text, and marks possible spelling problems with rippled red underlines. If you don't see that underlines, turn them on.

One thing you probably will have noticed is the spelling mistakes in the letter. You should have typed the letter exactly as it was, and left any spelling errors in. More than likely, the spelling mistakes are underlined in red in your document.

To check more than one word at a time, you can bring up the Spelling and Grammar dialogue box. To see it, click on the Review tab at the top of Word. On the Review tab, locate the Proofing section. Then click Spelling & Grammar:

  1. Open MS word
  2. Click on File menu
  3. Select Options
  4. Proofing
  5. Uncheck "Check grammar with spelling"
  6. Click on OK.
